Ophelia is officially a big sister!

Labor started on Sunday late morning with irregular, non painful contractions. By dinner time, I was pretty sure they were the real deal. Jim got Ophelia fed and bathed and ready for bed while I laid down on my side, drank water, and used the contraction timer. Yup. Regular at 6-7 minutes apart. Starting to get uncomfortable too. Better get that bag packed! An hour later, after Ophelia is officially in bed, mommy showered, and our friend Adam arriving any minute to babysit, contractions are closer to 3 minutes apart. Wow. That was fast! By the time we got to the hospital, they were 2 minutes apart, painful, and I was dilated to almost 6 cm. Oh - and the baby was breech with the feet coming first. Cue the emergency c-section team. Sparing all the gory details for now, at 9:41 pm on July 5, 2009 we welcomed Rowan Marie Maxwell. A whopping 7 pounds and 14 ounces and 19 3/4" long at 36 weeks!
