SKOY Cloth Review and Giveaway

Multi-Use Cloth
Review and Giveaway

In my quest for 'all things reusable,' one of my biggest challenges has been to cut back severely on my use of paper towels. Yes, we have dish towels for hand drying. Yes, we have washcloths for face wiping. But we still end up using some paper towels every day for SOMEthing. Until SKOY cloth popped up on my mommy radar. I contacted Michelle at Skoy Enterprises in Encinitas, California and she promptly sent me a 4-pack of SKOY Cloth to review.

First of all, let me answer the question that I first had when I stumbled across this product. What the heck is a SKOY? Ha! Well, SKOY is the phonetic pronunciation of the Swedish word "Skoj" - which means "Just for fun!" Turns out, not only are the SKOY cloths themselves a fun little item to have in your home, the owners of the company are really about running a fun business and having fun doing it.

And now for the nitty gritty: What the heck is a SKOY Cloth? It's the coolest, most effective reusable cleaning cloth I've had the pleasure of laying my hands on. Not only are they reusable, they are earth friendly, absorbent, and super cute. Oh - and they work! I use nothing but a wet SKOY Cloth and my counters, tables, chairs, high chairs, fixtures, cupboards, appliances - any hard surface I can reach, really - come clean. They suck up spills and grab crumbs and swipe away grime better than any sponge or cloth I've ever used. And I don't have to squirt or spray any kind of potentially chemical laden cleaner to get the job done. Just one SKOY cloth can do the work of 15 rolls of paper towels over it's life span.

When the SKOY Cloth first arrived in my mailbox I was a bit stumped. I had expected another variation on the mass marketed cleaning chamois that we see infomercials about. I was never Wowed by those things. They don't work nearly as well as the marketing would make you believe that they do. So when I opened the package from SKOY and found a cute little package of stiff as a board SKOY cloths, I scratched my head a bit. "Hmmm. These are not just another chamois. These are stiff! What the heck?"

SKOY Cloth: They are standing up! This is no Chamois!

I promptly opened them up and ran one under the faucet. Voila! It sucked up the water and became soft and pliable in my hands. And I mean soft! These little cloths felt good against my skin - not like a microfiber cloth that always seems to try to grab my skin and hang on for dear life. I took a swipe at the countertop and up came crumbs, coffee grounds, and a glob schmutz that may or may not have been yogurt. The SKOY Cloth wiped it right up. It didn't push the bits around like a wash cloth or sponge would, it grabbed right ahold of it! I rinsed it out and went at the high chairs. Clean! And without using any cleaning solutions. Sweet!

Used SKOY Cloth: After it's first use

You can probably guess that we don't go long in this house without something being spilled. An (almost) 3 year old can make a mess out of anything and her sister is learning fast. Painting with yogurt? Check. Spilled milk? Absolutely. Glopped up high chairs? Daily. The SKOY Cloth just cleans it all up with seeming ease. Almost every time I grab it, I'm amazed at how well it works. They should find the Swedish word for "wow" and use it as a nickname for these things.

And I can go on! SKOY Cloths are machine washable and dryable. You can toss them in the dishwasher if you'd like to. You can clean them between washings by popping them in the microwave for 1-2 minutes to kill any bacteria that may be sticking around. Which isn't likely, as these things dry really fast, which helps prevent they typical stuff you find on your sponges (you know the stink I'm talking about - it sticks to your hands and anything that icky sponge touches!).

They last a long time. I've been using mine for about a month and aside from a few stains, they are still like new. I use one new one  about every two weeks. Even after a few trips through the washer, they are still good to go in my kitchen. Once they start to wear down I'll down grade them to more hardcore chores like wiping the floors or cleaning the bathroom (I've honestly already wished for a SKOY mop - hint hint!!). When they have run their life cycle to the end, I can toss them in the compost pile!

Yep - earth friendly means more than just reusable. These cloths are 100% biodegradable. They are made from natural cotton and cellulose from wood. They break down completely in your compost pile in about 5 weeks. And if you don't compost, they will break down in about 16 weeks in the landfill, so you don't have to feel bad about tossing it when you feel it has reached the end of its useful life span.

OK, you can tell I really like these things. I think you will agree with me if you give them a try. You can purchase them through Amazon by clicking HERE or by using the sidebar widget on the top right of this page. (I will get a small commission if you do it this way). Or you can purchase directly from SKOY Enterprises or from their many US retailers, both online and brick and mortar. They come in multi-color packs with either the flower print seen here or with inspirational sayings, or white with the flower print. You can even sign up for a subscription, so that new SKOY Cloths are mailed to you on a schedule that suits your needs!

If I just use a paper towels to clean up water I try to save that to use it again. I like the idea of reusable paper towels I have been hearing a log about them lately.

I am trying to get into cloth diapering which would significantly cut down on the amount of diapers we use, which are single-use products when they are disposable diapers!
